Announcing the HM Bosun Tijani Foundation “Reuse Lab” Initiative
The Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, recently unveiled the Bosun Tijani Foundation – The Reuse Lab. The initiative aims to connect underserved Nigerian students by collecting, refurbishing, and distributing pre-owned digital devices. Beyond fostering digital inclusion, it also promotes environmental sustainability.
How to Qualify:
According to the Minister, to qualify, I am asking interested Nigerian secondary students to write an essay telling me why they should get these devices.
I’m hoping to read interesting stories highlighting your passion and vision for the future. I will also be looking out for originality and creativity, so we will be checking to see if you’ve left your entire entry to GenAl, the Minister stated.
Refurbished Laptops for Secondary Schools
In the first phase, 70 refurbished laptops will be awarded to secondary school students across the country.
How to Apply
- Eligible Nigerian secondary school students should submit an essay explaining why they deserve one of the devices.
- The Minister is looking for essays that showcase passion, vision, creativity, and originality—no regurgitated content!

Here’s how you can add the “Common Mistakes to Avoid” and “Conclusion / Final Advice” sections to your blog post about the Bosun Tijani Foundation Reuse Lab initiative:
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Applying
- Submitting Plagiarized Essays
The foundation is looking for original, heartfelt submissions. Copy-pasted content from the internet will likely be disqualified. - Missing the Essay Prompt
Some applicants write generic essays. Make sure you clearly explain why you deserve the laptop and how it will impact your education and future. - Lack of Proofreading
Spelling and grammar matter. A well-written, polished essay shows effort and seriousness. - Late Submissions
Don’t wait until the last minute. Submit early to avoid issues with the link or missing deadlines. - No Personal Story or Connection
Essays without personal stories or specific reasons tend to feel flat. Use your unique background to stand out.
Final Advice
This initiative is more than just a giveaway—it’s an opportunity to unlock your potential through technology. Take the essay seriously, be honest, and let your passion shine through your words. Whether or not you win, putting your story into writing can be the first step toward many more opportunities in the digital world.
And if you’re an organization with unused tech, don’t let it gather dust—donate and help shape Nigeria’s future.
Good luck to all applicants!
