nIt was recently reported that Wolves were in talks to cancel Dawson’s contract.

Pereira had publicly admitted that Dawson’s profile was not what he was looking for, and since then his future has been in doubt.

Dawson was then left out of Wolves’ Premier League squad for the second half of the season.

Then, in a development that left some quite surprised, Pereira said Dawson was no longer part of Wolves training.

One man who has been left surprised by the situation is Steve Bull, who has written about it in his latest E&S column. He said: “I’m very surprised at the decision taken because you need experienced players around the club and, in my opinion, I’d keep him around.

n“Politics in football is not my forte – I don’t know what’s happened – but all I can do is wish him all the best wherever he goes.

“He’s done well for Wolves since arriving in January 2023. He’s been brilliant and is a nice lad as well.

“I’m surprised he isn’t getting a chance, but people move on in football and we have to thank him for what he’s done for us.”

Dawson situation is surprising and disappointing
nThe situation with Dawson has been very peculiar.
n
It seems a strange one for Pereira to leave him out of the squad for the second half of the season, despite there actually being room for him as a homegrown player.
n
We don’t know fully what’s gone on behind the scenes, but seemingly Pereira wasn’t ready to keep him around even for his leadership qualities and professionalism.

It’s a shame that the defender now isn’t even training with the squad and it seems only a matter of time before he leaves
